What are student jobs and how much do they pay?
Student jobs are shift or part-time roles built around a study schedule. Hourly pay typically ranges between ILS 29 and ILS 32.3 and already includes components such as recuperation pay, seniority and clothing allowance. A full-time quota for a student is 96 hours a month (up to 120 hours by written agreement), and the rate is set by the collective agreement and the year of study. - Who counts as a student: with few exceptions, someone studying for a bachelor's or master's degree at a higher-education institution.
- Scope of the role: a full-time quota is 96 hours per month · a maximum scope of up to 120 hours a month can be set in writing.
- Duration of employment: student jobs run for three years for a bachelor's degree and two years for a master's degree.
- How pay is calculated: a student is always employed on a monthly-hours basis · the rate is set by the collective agreement and the year of study (a pay table published by the Wage Commissioner applies).
- Severance pay: anyone who worked continuously for one year or two consecutive seasons and was dismissed is entitled to severance pay.
The rights you are entitled to
A company that employs a student under a student-role definition must provide recuperation pay, meal and travel allowance. Overtime is paid by law and by contract, and on Fridays one hundred percent of the hourly rate is paid. Just like any other employee, a student is entitled to sick days in line with the scope of the role.
Under the social contributions, the company pays into a pension and a study fund, pays a childcare supplement, one day of choice per year, public holiday days and festivals · and even includes students in the sports and welfare activities offered to employees.
